Well that has been quite a week for the quartet with 2 recitals, a radio broadcast and we managed to squeeze a rehearsal in somewhere as well!

On Tuesday 12th May we were in the beautiful St George’s Church in Stockport doing a recital in aid of their organ refurbishment. It’s not often that we get to perform around where we are based but as Paul lives not far from the Church it could definitely be classed as a local concert. The whole recital went down very well and it was great to be able to have a cup of tea and a biscuit with the audience afterwards and get to have a good chat with them.

We had a first for the quartet this week with a live radio broadcast on Friday 15th May. BBC Radio 3 invited us to come and play on the ‘In Tune’ programme recorded in Media City in Salford and hosted by Sean Rafferty. We were chosen to finish the whole programme with roughly 30 minutes of us playing a few different pieces as well some short interviews. It was a great experience for the group and we all had a lot of fun seeing behind the scenes of a programme as well as performing on one.

Saturday 16th May brought us to the 2nd recital of the week for us this time in Manchester Cathedral for the Manchester Coffee Concerts. Having performed there 18 months ago as part of the RNCM Bach Festival it was great to come back and be able to perform a whole recital ourselves. The acoustic works brilliantly for the quartet and with a record crowd in for the Coffee Concert series there was a great atmosphere. After the recital it was great to see the enthusiasm from all age ranges about the pBones we had with us and there were definitely some stars of the future having a quick blow on them!

So a great week for us all and a big thank you to everyone who came to support us this week. No rest for us as we now prepare for our upcoming recitals and workshops with even more new music and I’m sure lots more fun and games!
